“Rose without Thorns” Written/Performed by Siena Girouard

Title/Theme: “Rose without Thorns” Written/Performed by Siena Girouard; Key/Structure: A minor

Comment about this piece:  One good thing about extended Coronavirus quarantine is having time to spend with my family. My daughter Siena (who just turned 16) plays guitar, piano and sings. We’re constantly talking about music and these recent days/weeks have provided more time to play and write as well. For this alone, I am so thankful. Siena had written a song about a year ago. She was planning to add lyrics, but I’ve always loved it as a solo piano piece. I’ve wanted to record her playing it but there was always an obstacle, excuse or distraction (isn’t that true for so many things?!). It took quarantine to finally record Siena’s “Rose without Thorns”. The piece was recorded “live” straight through (just like Dad on Naked Piano). Siena’s middle name is “Rose”, so I hope that provides enough backstory for the title and what you hear. I’m thankful to share this and hope you enjoy it as much as her Dad 🙂

Please share your comments and feedback below the post – I enjoy hearing from you.

Siena, the apple didn’t fall far from the creative genius tree, did it? Maria and I loved hearing ‘Rose Without Thorns’ very much. Gary, when will we hear a piano duet (or dueling pianos..)?? You’ve got in-house competition to keep you sharp…Love, Phil & Maria

Well done Siena! Gary, I could only hear it on the stream link. When I downloaded it the other way your song Raven was what came up.

Thanks Gary. Also, wondering if you will have sheet music for Giardino? I love that song!

I don’t have Giardino (yet) – I just finished and will release the sheet music for The Raven next week. Also, just want you to know how much I appreciate your feedback and comments. Blessings to you and your family.

Beautiful piece, Siena! I enjoyed hearing you play. I felt swept away and wanted more. You have the same talent as your Dad, you write and play in such a way that people can “feel” the music! I second the other comments, hoping to hear more of you in the future! Thank you, Gary for sharing!
