“The Road Within” – Gary Girouard

Title/Theme: “The Road Within”; Key/Structure: F# Minor

Comment about this piece: Distractions. Interruptions. Anxiety/Depression. It’s a growing part of modern culture. We often seek (and are prescribed) “extrinsic” solutions. However, it’s the “intrinsic” – the road within – where we can find and embrace our true selves. It’s a journey. Not easy. I’m still learning the way. This composition is inspired by the Robert Frost poem “The Road Not Taken” – where the “less traveled” road mentioned by Frost is not physical, but spiritual.

Excerpt:

“I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.”

(Equipment/Setup: Steinway Model B; Earthworks QTC-40 (stereo pair) Mics 12″ above strings; Apogee Duet Interface; Logic Pro X; Waves MV2 Compressor, Chroma Reverb).

Hello Gary, I stumbled upon a video of you on Instagram. You were playing “Love”. Very beautiful. Your music would do well on this platform called Choon.co This platform unlike Spotify offers full transparency and one receives royalty statements daily, once their music is being streamed. I think you could may be try it out with at least one of your beautiful tracks. I’m sure your music would do well there. Continue to make good music and God bless you.
